Riley Gibbs and Anna Weis (USA) used superior boat speed upwind in the flat water to narrowly win the Oceania Championship by three points from Zajac/Matz (AUT) and Gimson/Burnett (GBR). On a blustery final day the American’s got a 1, 3 battling tightly with the Austrians who scored a 2, 1 and won the regatta by three points.

However, noting that this is just a warm up regatta, John Gimson and Anna Burnett (GBR) opted not to sail the final race today despite being in position to win the regatta to preserve themselves for worlds next week.

Also feeling good out of the Oceanias are the two Spanish teams in skiffs. Diego Botin and Iago Marra won the only 49er race of the day, while Tamara Echegoyen and Paula Barcelo had a 3rd and a 1st in their two races today, to win the championship by the greatest margin of the lot.

The World Championships begin racing on February 10th and run through the 15th
